How To Use the Mesh Filter in Sculpt Mode

Spread the love

Let’s talk about the mesh filter today. Just another quick tip. I’ll be using the 2.81 version of Blender.

You can use the mesh filter to modify the current mesh. To demonstrate this, let’s create a mesh, for example a UV sphere.

Scale the sphere: S 10 and then S Z 2. Add the subdivision surface modifier with 3 subdivisions and apply it.

Go to sculpt mode. You can sculpt the object a little, for example using the draw brush. When you’re done, select mesh filter.

Then press N and go to the Tool tab. Under Active Tool there are a couple options to choose from.

Try the Inflate filter first. You can apply it to all axes simultaneously, to one axis or to any combination of axes. Play with it and then undo your changes. Then play with the other filters to see how they work. You can also play with different values of strength.
