How To Use the Transformations in Sculpt Mode

Spread the love

Today we’ll see how to use the transformations in sculpt mode. I’ll be using the 2.81 version of Blender.

You can use the basic transformations directly in sculpt mode. Let’s demonstrate it on a simple example.

Delete the default cube, add a sphere and scale it: S 10. Add the subdivision surface modifier with 3 subdivisions and apply it.

Go to sculpt mode and turn off mirroring. Set brush radius to 100 and its strength to 1. Sculpt some spikes using the snake hook brush.

First let’s apply the transformations to the whole object. Play with the move, rotate and scale buttons on the left.

Then let’s apply them to just a portion of the mesh. Mask one of the spikes and then invert the mask (Ctrl+I or in mask menu).

If you now play with the transformations again, they will only affect the unmasked part of the mesh.
